David Prodan's Contribution to Old Romanian Bibliography

Summary/Abstract: The article is based on research carried out in Budapest, in the collections of Ráday Library, where there is an interesting holdings of old Romanian books. Among the 17th-19th century prints, works with religious, historical or geographic themes, an Urbarium printed in the 18th century was also identified. Attempts to identify the print researched in Budapest came as a series of surprises: a second copy of this work was identified in the collections of the Romanian Academy Library-Cluj-Napoca Branch, yet both differ from the standard copy depicted by the specialised bibliography and located in Galați. Moreover, the copy from Cluj-Napoca was known bibliographically by an article-edition signed by historian David Prodan, an article cited by researchers in the field of old books without a direct comparison with the text from Galați; thus, David Prodan's contribution to Old Romanian Bibliography was omitted and remains unknown until now.
