Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on Hieronim Lanckoroński of Brzezie, Zadora coat of arms (ca. 1627–1697), the son of Stanisław, the Ruthenian voivode and field hetman of the Crown, and Aleksandra Sienieńska, Dębno coat of arms, the daughter of Lublin castellan. The article also discusses the life of his siblings, with particular emphasis on those children of the Russian voivode who survived their father, who died in 1657, including Przecław (d. 1697), who achieved the senatorial dignity of castellan of Czechów, Jan Kazimierz (d. 1679), who was canon of Kraków and Lviv, Franciszek (d. before 1696), who did not hold any offices and Joanna (d. before 1696), who became the wife of Andrzej Świętopełk-Bolestraszycki. Their family situation, financial status and public activities are discussed in the article. However, it is Hieronim Lacroński’s achievements that remain in the centre of attention. He was undoubtedly the most outstanding representative of the Jagielnica line of the Lanckoroński family in the second part of the 17th century. He took part in almost all the wars fought by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth between 1649 until the mid-1680s. In 1658, he became the Chamberlain of Podolia. He was also the starost of Skała, Dymer and Zawichost. Towards the end of his life, he got closer to IV entailer of Zamość Marcin Zamoyski and then with his widow, Anna née Gnińska. He leased the Goraj estate of the Zamoyski family entail from them and acted as a client of his more powerful relatives. The author manages to thoroughly trace both Hieronim Lanckoroński’s achievements in the public sphere, as well as his financial situation and private life. The article contains numerous new information, correcting a significant number of erroneous existing findings regarding the Chamberlain of Podolia, as well as other children of Ruthenian voivode Stanisław. It is also worth noting that despite marrying twice, Hieronim Lanckoroński died without issue. In May 1696, he made a very interesting last will, which is attached as an annex to this study.
