Summary/Abstract: The analyzes presented in the text answer the question: On what basis can Wacław Hryniewicz’s view of hope be considered universalist? To answer this question, the article presents an outline of the universalism of hope. The Lublin theologian, as shown in the arti- cle, subordinated his work to the task of “giving hope” (1), which he sought in the Bible and early Christian thought (2). On the horizon of biblical hope, hell, as shown in the article, is not eternal (3). The incarnation of God in Jesus Christ and His words and deeds defines human existence, which Hryniewicz described with the category of Homo Paschalis (4). In this anthropology, human freedom has its source in God and is completed in him (5). From the writings of Hryniewicz emerges the image of God who will save all his creatures, because His love is omnipotent. This divine action was described by Hryniewicz as a pedagogy of hope, which embraces all God’s creatures in the world, and even in hell (6). The theology of the universalism of hope has a clear universalistic character and covers both the earthly life of man and his posthumous fate.
