IMPACT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ON THE LEVEL OF ECONOMIC SECURITY

Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to try to assess the impact of digital transformation on the level of economic security in the enterprise. To achieve it, a research problem was formulated, which is to fi nd answers to the questions that have been bothering researchers: is there a relationship between digital transformation and the level of economic security of the enterprise? Does RPA contribute to the improvement of the digital transformation process in the enterprise and thus contribute to its development and improvement of its competitive position, which consequently aff ects its economic security? For the purpose of achieving the stated research objectives, a qualitative approach was adopted, based on the case study method. For the purpose of conducting the study, an interview questionnaire was developed and used to conduct semi-structured interviews with experts employed at the studied entity. The interviews were conducted as a source of data in order to obtain opinions based on the experts’ possessed experience in the fi eld of digital transformation (including Robotic Process Automation), eff orts and used business practices and lessons learned from the digital transformation process and its impact on the level of economic security. As a result of the research procedure, the research problems posed were positively addressed. According to the authors of the study, there is a relationship between digital transformation and the level of economic security of the enterprise. The key areas of infl uence of digital transformation on the level of economic security included: strategy, technological capabilities, human resources, customer communication and information security. The qualitative research also indicated that the eff ect of digital transformation in the studied entity is: improving the quality of service and communication with the customer, increasing productivity, reducing the risk of errors, reducing costs and improving the security of processed information, which indicates a positive impact on the level of economic security measured in terms of creating conditions for operation that provide the entity with information security, as well as achieving a posi- tion in which it is able to effectively achieve its strategic, tactical and operational goals. With regard to the second part of the research problem, it can be concluded that the conducted research allows confi rming the hypothesis that RPA infl uences the improvement of the digital transformation process in the enterprise and thus contributes to its development and improvement of its competitive position. The implementation of digital transformation is undoubtedly associated with the implementation of new tools that aff ect the realization of the set strategic, tactical and operational goals, especially in terms of reducing business costs.
