Summary/Abstract: The text introduces readers to the Bulgarian studies at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, presenting a novel approach to studying Bulgarian linguistics disciplines, especially in a comparative context with other South Slavic languages and Czech. The study examines the transition from the study of linguistic disciplines within the framework of classical philological education in the past to the newer concept of academic education in the so-called areal studies. Furthermore, it presents textbooks, exercise books, and teaching materials developed by Masaryk University professors. These books meet the modern requirements for accessibility and digitization and were created to meet the needs of the students studying Bulgarian language at this university. Most of these materials are available online in the Masaryk University information system itself or in the Munispace digital library.
