Summary/Abstract: The December 3, 1954 loan, was the first accredited to Albania from China and paved the way for a new relationship with a powerful communist country. Nonetheless were thousands miles away, the relation with Mao Zedong's China was the 'ace' for Enver Hoxha if would occur the split with the Soviet Union, a fact that was only seven years far away. The Albanian communist leadership had clearly shown that without economic aids and loans from the communist countries of Europe and from the Soviet Union was impossible to survive economically and consequently politically. The approach with China was a smart move of the Albanian communist leader. The steps of the Albanian-Chinese approach in the first half of the XX century were slow and until this year nonexistent. From now on, these relations would only rise until the year 1978. A new alliance was being forged in the history of Albania during the Cold War.
