Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the life and work of Bohumil Eiselt (1831–1908), a physician and university professor. In contrast to earlier biographies of Eiselt, which drew mainly on his own memoirs, this text focuses on Eiselt’s role in the late stage of the Czech national revival on both the national and local level. Included in this contribution are also some often-neglected aspects of his life, which nevertheless helped form his personality, especially his daily life and his family.
