Summary/Abstract: The author is, after a concise summing up of the inner- theatrical contribution of artistic endeavours of some members of inter-war avant-garde, focusing on mapping the creative results of the director Blahoslav Uhlár. She is expressing her opinion that in Uhlár´s creation can be found responses of some Czech avant-garde artists and inspirations mediated through the work of Uhlár´s generational peers in the Czech studio theatres (the Theatre Husa na provázku in Brno, the Studio Ypsilon in Liberec and later on in Prague, and others). A significant reasoning is found by the author in Uhlár´s interest in theatre, whose basic source is not the classic dramatic text but the actors´ improvisation.
