Albanian Issue in Macedonia After Brione

Summary/Abstract: This study, based on archival sources, enlightens anti-Albanian policy of the supreme head of KLM, after the IV meeting of CK YKL, held on the 1st of July in Brione. In this meeting except the decision for accept for the decision to remove from Ygoslav political scene well known Serbian dictator Aleksandar Rankoviç, there were also approved some other decisions of special weight as were: Emergent cleaning of state security from all those leaders for whom there are evidences that have misused their positions, then democratization respectively transformation of party and state bodies where were required higher inclusion of minorities (Albanians and Turks) in all institutions, advancement of their political status etc. These decisions, different from other republics, in Macedonia were not applied at all, with argumentation that situation in Macedonia was totally different with that in Kosova and that security service did not persecuted Albanians. Not applying of these Brion decisions faced lots of reactions both among Albanian intellectuals in Macedonia and among Kosovan political wing which required their respect. This reaction has forced Macedonian communist leadership to approve some conclusions which were foreseeing a minimal advancement of Albanian and Turkish political-cultural and educational status.
