Summary/Abstract: One of the main research topics in the domain of sociospatial interactions is "human activity", because of its role as a medium of interaction. The objectives of this paper are to suggest such perspectives on human activity, which can help in the analysis of its elements and structures, relevant to the built environment. Several view points and concepts of activity are presented. Their role is to delineate directions for identifying those structures of the activity, that encompass social and spatial elements. Human activity is viewed as: a system of psychic processes; a stream of behaviour (R. Barker) or behaviour chain (C. Perin); in respect to its functions and meanings. An emphasis is given to the relations among different activities — functional relations, spatial, temporal, in regard to necessary conditions
