Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on overcoming the great divide existent between the psycho-analytical view on the so-called ‘slips of the tongue’ or ‘parapraxes’ (acte manqué) and the linguistic view on the same topic, in an attempt to bring a unified perspective on how any disturbances created between the ‘language of thought’ and the mechanisms of speech production are reflected at the level of sound and word errors. The slips of the tongue are ‘windows to the mind’ and before slipping through our lips, they first slip through our cognitive control, then through our articulatory control and end up as verbal mirrors of our deepest, well-concealed thoughts, fears and emotions.
