Summary/Abstract: This article supports the thesis of Paul Ricoeur, David Carr, and others that narrativity is not only a structure of explicit stories in Iiterature and history but also - in the form of prenarrativity - a transcultural organizing principle of our everyday life. Pre-narrative structures organize "flowing" experiences and behavior into «limited» actions, projects, and episodes. Explicit narratives and pre-narratives are not separate forms of art and life but interdependent phases of various cultural processes.
