Summary/Abstract: This passing excursus aims to reveal the phenomenological post-Kantian prerequisites of a prevailing predisposition towards interpreting Kant’s transcendental imagination as genuinely productive. In the light of an appealing hypothesis which considers Kant’s theory of imagination as a well-suited tertium comparationis of Husserl and Heidegger, the way of reproduction is propounded as an alternative to Ricouer’s course of recognition in providing reliable heuristic milestones towards a „great philosophy of imagination“. Moreover, it makes feasible the detailed unfolding of an apology of the sociocultural notion of reproduction in response to popular ‘media-theoretical’ conceptualizations of knowledge- based society.
