Summary/Abstract: Monastery of St. Nicholas is situated in the western part of vitosha Mountain, near village of Kladnitsa. The object of this article is the katolikon of the monastery of St. Nicholas. The church is built in 1841. At the west wall of the church in 1866 was built a narthex also painted. The mural paintings are made by two (or more?) painters. For now we have evidences that in 1885 Ko- sta Gerov was made part of mural decoration in the church. The name of the second painter (or painters?) is unknown for now. In the same time we have inscription it the altar with the year 1855 written in it. That means the mural decoration is made partly for a considerably long period of time – from 1855 to 1885. The article is stressed on presenta- tion of scenes is church. Archaic stylistic is one of the main char- acteristics of the decoration of the church. It’s combined with a lot of didactic themes some of which are rare. Almost every scene is “deco- rated” with the names of its ktitors. Sometimes in one scene we can find a lot of names written down which (probably) marked all members of ktitor’s family. The will of so many ktitors is the reason for the lack of common program in mural painting – the leading idea in painting is the wish of the ktitors but the tradition or ideological unity.
