JUSTICE AND HOME AFFAIRS: MACEDONIA-EU RELATIONS

Summary/Abstract: The cooperation in the area of Justice and home affairs is emphasized from 1993 with the Mastricht Treaty when third pillar of the European union has been established. The authorities of the member states of the EU agreed that this cooperation is not only useful, but also necessary and essential, especially in conditions of transnational and sophisticated organized crime, but also in conditions of increased mobility of the citizens and intensified migration. In all these areas the Republic of Macedonia is trying to catch up with the new trends which are present in these areas and we can confirm that the approximation of our legislation is happening on a very high level and also with acceptable dynamics, but its implementation is still qualified as a black spot.
