Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyze the relationships between psychological type and school leadership. The text is divided into three sections. The first section gives a short introduction to the type theory and to the MBTI as an instrument, based on it. The second section reviews literature, related to the type distributions of managers as a category. Three main tendencies of predominance are discussed: Judgment, Thinking-Judgment and Sensing-Thinking-Judging. On this background the third section reveals the main type characteristics of school leaders. Their similarities and differences with the overall managerial group are outlined. The stress is put on the overrepresentation of the ESTJ type, accepted as a typical one for the school principals. The significant differences between this group and two samples of outstanding school administrators are commented. It is underlined that the best school leaders are intuitive, future oriented and rational thinking executives. Directions of coming research in Bulgarian context are drawn as a result of this review.
