Summary/Abstract: In this article arguments unfavorable for keeping the whole of Kosovo and Metohia within boundaries of Serbia have been treated. These reasons may be divided into: demographic, economic, political, security and ecological. Demographic projections indicate that by 2050 Serbs would not constitute majority in Serbia should Kosovo remain within Serbia. In economic sense Serbia would not be in a position to successfully develop. Similarly, policy would be reduced to national question. In security terms, it is realistic to predict that a great part of nationalistically oriented and unemployed Albanian youth would find a way out in terrorist activities. Reasons in favor of keeping Kosovo within Serbia are mostly mythical. Additionally there are reasons that may be well grounded such as almost unbearable position of several tens of thousands of Serbs living south of the Ibar river. Their position would further deteriorate should partition take part along Ibar valley. There is also fear that the loss of territories would not be stopped in Kosovo but would affect other ethnically non-Serbian territories in Serbia. However, importance of stability in the Balkans, as well as determination of the citizens of Serbia to defend their country should be sufficient guarantee that this would not happen. At the end positions of different Serbian political parties towards Kosovo have been analysed.
