Summary/Abstract: This research aims to survey the visual perception of linguistic stimuli among children suffering from developmental dyslexia. 136 students aged from 9 to 12 years took part After estimating the processes of decoding and reading comprehension they were divided into 4 groups as follows — normolexic, dyslexic, hyperlexic and children with nonspecific reading disabilities. It has been established that the reading disorders are not a homogenous group. The specification of the various kinds of reading disorders could be based upon the abilities for perception of linguistic stimuli in different positions and in structurally different words. The research proved that dyslexics used predominantly the model "up-down" due to salient decoding difficulties. The phonological deficit explains a few reading mistakes, mainly of grapho-phonemic correlation. It can be interpreted as a secondary upon the grounds of low decoding capabilities. As a result, sensory information "of poor quality" comes into the memory buffer.
