Summary/Abstract: A fundamental research into the life and creative work of a famous Ukrainian prisoner of conscience and artist Opanas Zalyvakha, who belongs to the generation of free-thinkers of the 60s. The article deals with the artist's hard fate, his being the victim of soviet totalitarian system repressions. The creative heritage of Opanas Zalyvakha, stylistic features of his creative work are considered from the perspective of the artist's free thinking and courage.
