Summary/Abstract: In her fundamental article about chrematonyms M. Knappová referred to “Pilsner Beer”. The name includes information about the locality of the origin of the beer and about the sort of beer at the same time; the designation of the sort of beer originated by its “deonymisation”. This tendency is also found in the names of types of cheese; female first names are frequently used to name different sorts of potatoes. Presumably, these names are meant to appeal to housewives as the target group.
