Summary/Abstract: The theme of internationalization in the field of tourism in our country is topical and at the same time complicated and controversial as it is bound both with the processes of transforming the national economy and with the processes of integration. The search for objective arguments for establishing the degree of internationalization in the Bulgarian tourist business is a serious motivation in which the problems and difficulties in development must be considered parallel with the achievements and traditions in this field. The degree of internationalization of business destinations should be distinguished from the internationalization of a particular business, although they are mutually determined. Therefore, the purpose of this study lies in revealing the degree of internationalization of the tourist business in Bulgaria and of Bulgaria as a “business destination”, taking into account the nature of the business environment in our country, applying methods for establishing specific merits of business and those of the “business destination”.
