Summary/Abstract: The author continues with her scientific work aimed to the volunteering agenda which has been conducted within the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012. Presently she focuses her attention to volunteering in context of active ageing. The text is divided into three chapters. In the first one evolution of the active ageing concept directed towards development of measuring active ageing and its impacts on public policies, is worked out. Even so, some other related concepts (such as healthy, productive or successful ageing) and relationships among them, are complementary mentioned. The core part of the text is aimed to describe position of volunteering within context of active ageing. The author presents volunteering firstly as European social policy and following as a research priority. According to her statement an effective utilising of volunteers potential is negatively impacted by some persisting stereotypes referring to the volunteering generally. Based on her present scientific work the author identifies some of them and describe their stereotypical nature. Finally, some observations and research findings are discussed. The author justifies why combination of the both universal and affirmative solutions to support volunteering as a way of active ageing is necessary. That is an approach how to embed into the agenda of volunteering in context of active ageing some dynamic dimension being contained in the life course perspective.
