Summary/Abstract: Cuban-American author Cristina Garcia’s works revolve around multigenerational families torn between the Caribbean island and their adoptive – U.S. - communities. While strong female voices strive to capture the challenges of transgression, communication is often hindered by the discontinuities of memory and discourse. The present paper analyzes the role physical, mental and linguistic boundaries play in the evolution of Garcia’s protagonists.
