Summary/Abstract: The question about the Catholic educational institutions in Bulgaria has not been systematically researched in Bulgaria until the present times. The report examines them in the context of music life of the Catholic Church of Eastern Denomination in Bulgaria as part of the diverse cultural atmosphere in it, created as a result of different activities: choir activities, cultural-education societies, church publications (periodicals and books), and Catholic schools. An important contribution in the music life of Bulgaria of the second half of the 19th and until the middle of the 20th century was made by the Catholic schools. Their musical activities and especially those of the Bulgarian-Catholic gymnasium in Odrin (Edirne) and the Plovdiv College “St Augustine” were truly remarkable and not just in the context of its time. The names of Father Toma Bzheska, Mikhail Shafrani, Father Johannes (Jean-Baptist) Tibo , Joseph Tzaldar, Father Herman Geissler, Father Emanuel Kreembule were some of the more famous ones. These schools became educational centers with great influence and had an important place in Bulgarian society. They became part of it and are synchronic in the context of development of Bulgarian culture.
