Formation of rural intelligentsia of a region of Donskoye Host held by peasants

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the problem of rural intelligentsia formation of Donskoye Host by peasants during the reforming period. The author states the criteria of intelligentsia on basis of which he analyses the specific features of activity, mentality, qualitative characteristics of such social group as rural intelligentsia. Special attention is given to peasants’ motivation in getting education, in attempts to increase peasants’ social status and consequently to change their sphere of activity. The author’s conclusions are proved by ar-chive documents and biographies of honored artists that come from peasantry of Donskoye Host
