Summary/Abstract: The author discusses the legal aspects of the trial of Jesus Christ. Primarily, he enumerates historical sources and testimonies of this trial, as well as historical circumstances in Judaea in that time. Following that the author gives an overview of Judaic law and functioning of the Judaic judiciary. He also demarcates between the jurisdiction of the Judaic judiciary and Roman judiciary since Judaea in 6 AD lost its autonomy and became a Roman province. By recalling the existing sources the author describes the apprehension and interrogation of Jesus and his trial before the highest Judaic court and, following that, the first trial before the provincial governor Pilate, before Herod, and finally the last trial before Pilate. Since none of the key points of the indictment was proved (blasphemy, false messiah, creation of illegal organisation, incitement of rebellion against Roman emperor and self-proclamation as emperor) Pilate freed the accused but under pressure and threats of the prosecutor he changed his decision. In the epilogue the author points out the legal consequence of this unjustified and coerced conviction as well as its higher meaning and fulfillment of God's justice.
