EVACUATION OF CIVILIAN POPULATION AND GOODS IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

Summary/Abstract: Individuals have always undergone on an intuitive level different activities of civilian protection in order to protect their own lives and goods from wars or natural disasters effects. Certainly, the oldest activity of civilian protection is the evacuation together with the warning and alert. Thus, evacuation, as an action by which the population and goods likely to be damaged by a natural or human caused calamity are moved – temporarily or permanently – in areas wherein physical protection could be provided to them, represents core phase of the type of activity undergone in imminent emergency situations.
