Summary/Abstract: Marxism was and still seems to be the dominant theoretical perspective within the critical analysis of educational policy. The author describes the different "Images" of the school present in Marxist theory and criticism for determinism economic and class reductionism. Referring to the work of Ernesto Laclau, presents an alternative to the Marxist theoretical framework that can be used in critical studies, production and implementation of educational policy. In the perspective, school and educational policies are seen as political spaces contestation and struggle for hegemony.
