Is Man an Existential Being or a Social Being?

Summary/Abstract: Two “definitions” of man are opposed in this article: as an existential being and as a social being. It is shown that social content appropriated by man today functions to an increasing extent according to the laws of nature rather than those of essence. One of the key reasons for this situation is revealed: the social is not introduced into the metaphysical experience of man. The presence of existential consciousness enables us to state the social as a man’s mission and to define the social as an action.
