Summary/Abstract: The topic of the article is realization of flexion and word-building pattern on - ista / - ysta, - isty / - ysty in Polish and Belarusian. Noun formations with - ista / - ysta, - isty / - ysty formants constituting a special vocabulary layer in Polish and Belarusian are subject of the analysis. The purpose of the article is to find out how intensively noun formations with - ista / - ysta, - isty / - ysty formants were developing in Polish and Belarusian, and also to find out reasons caused changes of word-building and semantic nature, connected with distribution of mentioned formants in each of the languages. The research was conducted with the application of comparative, comparative-historical, descriptive-analytical and areal-typological methods, and also onomasiological analysis elements.
