Summary/Abstract: This article is divided into three sections: the first discusses different definitions of secularization and basic characteristics of the process; the second one discusses different models and arguments that challenge the definition and process of secularization in the modern world and the third one presents data which reveal specific religious changes in terms of return of the holy, revival of individual and conventional religiousness, and attachment to religion and church.
