Summary/Abstract: The article describes opportunities and obstacles related to the application of Open Educational Resources (OERs) in Poland. It is based on the authors’ experience with creating and managing Open AGH, the OER repository for AGH – University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Among others the article discusses a survey on OERs, which was conducted in October 2010 among AGH teachers. Diagnosis of university staff’s awareness and willingness to develop Open AGH is presented. The authors suggest, on the basis of their experience and results of the survey, that OER repositories have a large development potential. It is essential though to intensify the efforts to spread knowledge about open licences and educational resources and to remove technical, legal and ideological obstacles for such initiatives. Suggestions are given as to how to achieve that.
