Summary/Abstract: This article presents the preferred values of young people with symptoms of social maladjustment. We examined a group of 35 pupils aged 15–16 attending probation centres. A comparison group of 38 people were their peers: second and third grade students of lower secondary school. The Rokeach Value Survey (RVS) was used. The results indicate that both girls and boys with symptoms of social maladjustment appreciate most such terminal values as: family security, freedom, and self-respect. By contrast, among instrumental values they prefer cleanliness, helpfulness, politeness. Comparing the obtained results, it can be concluded that maladjusted young people prefer slightly different instrumental values than their peers from the comparison group. The most important terminal values for the adolescents from both groups examined are: family security and self-respect.
