The Ability of the Lay Faithful to Preaching the Word of God

Summary/Abstract: Contemporary canon law allows the lay faithful to participate in preaching the word of God i.e. pastoral preaching. In this case, the lay faithful participate in the law of the clergy. Lay people can preach the word of God in case of necessity or need with an assent of the diocesan bishop and according to the rules of Episcopal Conference. Among different forms of preaching homily is the most important one. If a homily is preached during the holy Mass, it cannot be done by the lay faithful and has to be preached by clergy.
