Summary/Abstract: The following article is based on the fundamental distinction in the semantics, first made by the German mathematician and philosopher Gottlob Frege, between the meaning (Sinn) and the reference (Bedeutung) of any verbal phrase. The author applies this theory on all the sentence types, which are possible from a pragmatical point of view: declarative, interrogative, imperative and exclamatory sentences. It turns out that each of these types can be divided in its meaning part (or „content“) and reference part (or „modality“). By this division is shown also what is the structure of each of these sentences. The investigation leads to the conclusion that out of the assertive modality and of one specially adopted modality, called „w“, and of the concrete propositional content any single sentence can be constructed.
