Summary/Abstract: Bulgaria is a mountainous country. The capital is situated near to the Vitosha mountain. Mountain tourism is common practice in a leisure time. The study of different forms of exercise such as hiking recreational activity, allows to reveal the economic and social inequalities, that determine individual choices for a particular type of tourism. By summarizing trends become visible policies that maintain and reproduce inequalities. Historical overview of the mountaineering movement, shows the main ideological dominants in different periods.
