Summary/Abstract: Position of Russian economy in international economy is caused by globalization process and emergence of new processes in internal market such as privatization, inflow of foreign investments, changes in banking sector and creditmonetary sphere, etc. Opposite to USSR, which was a global super power, the Russian Federation, thanks to its "stagger" role in global economy, depends on foreign investments, equipment and loans. Position of the Russian Federation in global economy can be described as peripheral raw material base with primary role in exports of raw materials and semifinished goods like oil, metals, gas, timber products and fertilizers. Therefore, foreign investments are mostly directed toward extraction industries while industrialized countries block deliveries of Russian final goods to their markets. Foreign transnational companies (TNCs) often opt for direct investments in Russian market and main weaknesses of Russian firms are insufficient experience and lack of competitiveness in international markets. The Russian Federation strives for involvement in globalization processes but at the same time it participates in regionalization and preferential regional grouping for the Russian Federation is still the Community of Independent States (CIS).
