Summary/Abstract: The exhibition that accompanies The Second International Academic Conference: Upbringing in the Family. Historical and Contemporary Contexts shows the past circumstances and activities that the families represented in the photographs and digital materials were preoccupied with. It is a modest selection of items from a broad range of photographs derived from various sources, such as private collections of the students and the staff members of the Institute of Pedagogy of University of Wrocław and the Department of Humanities of the Karkonosze State Higher School in Jelenia Góra, the Memory and Future Institute in Wrocław as well as iconographic prints and internet resources. The aim of the authors of the exhibition was to highlight the importance of taking care of personal and family collections of photos. Photographs belong to major iconographic sources that offer visual traces of persons and places in a particular moment, past and present, and they have a crucial impact upon our knowledge about the world. The exhibition displays fifteen boards with 73 photographs. Due to a wide range of problems addressed in the conference papers, chronological and thematic criteria determine the selection of the pictures.
