Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to prove Alexandru Odobescu’s complex personality. He was a dual writer interested in both literature and science. The critics found it difficult to establish the gender of his writings. Besides being an author, Odobescu was also a patriot and a man who protected the culture of his country. He remains in the history of the 19th century literature as the writer who ”fought” for a literary Romanian language.
