Summary/Abstract: Given that the actions taken by military commanders are highly significant, one would expect that a great deal of research would have already been done on this topic. Surprisingly, though, in Germany this is only true to a limited extent. German history papers, particularly those published by the Military History Research Institute of the Bundeswehr, deal with military commanders and (war-time) events from a purely historical perspective.
