Summary/Abstract: Folklore is considered in socialist Albania one of the treasures of cultural heritage, an important means of contemporary artistic culture. A particular social care is given to folk music, which is also seen in the extension of studies and scientific editions of its values, in the ever-growing interest to know and to preserve its originality and vitality in the present conditions. A remarkable expression of the social prestige enjoyed by folklore in Albania and the great concern for its vitality is the organization of folk festivals.
