Summary/Abstract: In the conditions of globalization of the world economy independence of any state is impossible without solving such importantproblem as finding its niche on the world market. Study of potential of national economy and its positioning on the world market is theproblem which requires not only attention, but also studies. Assessment of real condition of economy and results of externaleconomic activities may become the starting platform for formulating the priorities of export policy of the Republic of Belarus.The aim of article is to substantiate the provision that in the conditions of integration into the world economy, stimulation andoptimization of export potential of the Republic of Belarus and development of directions for the increase of its effectiveness aredrastically important.The following tasks shall be solved for achieving the above aim: to characterize tasks and instruments of stimulation; to determinepeculiarities of development of export in foreign countries and assess their export potential; to analyze the condition of exportpotential of the Republic of Belarus and propose the directions of its increase.Conclusions. The most important role of the state in export development lies in the support of exporters by means of creatingfavorable external environment and motivation factors. The state may also stimulate export by means of technical and financialsupport (in most cases indirect support – for examples, subsidies for income from the establishment of commodity distributionnetworks), paying attention to the small and medium enterprises lacking the necessary resources. Export decision including on thestructure of commodity distribution networks shall be taken by the companies. Similar decisions are the most effective on micro–level,as they allow taking into account peculiarities of the separate enterprises, their products and target markets.
