Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the daily life of Muslim pilgrims during the Hajj (a religious pilgrimage). It shows the following aspects of the given issue: the large-scale participation, routes, food, security, epidemiological situation, as well as the legal, social and economic status of the pilgrims. We arrive at a conclusion that pilgrimage, in particular, favoured the affiliation between the Muslims of Russia and the Ottoman Empire. However, the administrative barriers, crime and climate significantly reduced the number of people wanting to go to Mecca.
