Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the changing role of Islam in Tatarstan in the post-secular period. It is primarily expressed in the increase of its value in the public space and the growth of religiosity at the individual level compared to the early 1990s. A number of post-secular features have been identified: active Islamization of young people; transfer of religious socialization from an early age to adolescence; importance of not only external reference groups, individuals and institutions, but also individual spiritual search and reflection on the creed. The paper is based on the data from the sociological research (survey and in-depth interviews) carried out by the author in 2008–2014 in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
