Summary/Abstract: Maciej Swieszewski was inspired by Bosch and Breugel. Also, he was interested in work by modern artists, such as Dix, Beckmann, Kubin, Klossowski and Linke. He filled his pictures with many human figures. In different pictures, he concentrated on one human figure. His paintings entitled “The Crucifixion”, “Ecce Homo”, and “Sisyphus” refer to the subject of the human suffering. His compositions are based on the idea of musical counterpoint. Some critics consider Swieszewwski as symbolist painter.
