Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the issues of the genesis and evolution of female clothing during the early medieval Russia– „letnik”. The author attempts to rebuild this type of outfit and proposes a new vision based on the use of this femaleclothing item in Russia in the early medieval period before the beginning of the XVII century.
