Differences between the supply of cultural services in the Hungarian cities living more than ten thousand people

Summary/Abstract: The current paper investigates the supply and distribution of cultural services in Hungarian cities with more than ten thousand inhabitants. The research is based on secondary data of different statistical databases and on own data collection. The city groups defined by the cluster analysis show similarities to the results of earlier city typology analysis in a way that cities with central role and those lagging behind also can be identified. Besides these groups there are cities which exploit their cultural potential differently; those which focus on museums and festival life and those in which the creative communities and cultural centres play the most important role.
