Summary/Abstract: Based on L.N. Tolstoy’s novel Anna Karenina, through the plane of content of the novel’s main heroine Anna Karenina’s valuable notions, the article considers the role of the situational modality meanings as the axiological categories, revealing valuable guideline points and beliefs of the writer, i.e. realizing the author’s modality.
