Summary/Abstract: At the end of the 18th - early 19th centuries, the trade relations between the Principality of Moldova and the Russian Empire were determined by a number of new features that represent a new stage in the development of economic relations between the countries. Intensification of trade relations between the Principality of Moldova and Russia was achieved with the signing of the Treaty of Kuchuk Kainarji. Russian freedom of navigation and trade on the Danube and the Black Sea led to a weakening of the tercentennial Ottoman monopoly in the Romanian principalities, contributing to the development of foreign trade with Russia, Austria and other European countries.
