Summary/Abstract: In Transylvania, one of the most interesting events at the beginning of the 19th century was a series of antique gold coin findings, which meant for the imperial and royal administration a new bureaucratic and legal burden. At that time, despite of other historical founds and disperse laws, existed a lack of practice and clear regulations, in a complex situation dominated by several institutions with unclear attributions and the higher institutions in Vienna. During this time, the multitude of archive documents and historical, less used laws shows us how a juridical practice regarding the treatment, mostly the ownership of treasures developed, through unclear or even conflicting situations between institutions and people representing them. This study tries to analyze some aspects of these developments also by highlighting quotes from older or newer law texts, adding the very interesting aspects of the mentalities of those times, represented by narratives and legends about treasures, which survived until today.
